Corporate volunteer programs have a major impact on the health and well-being of the employees who participate in these initiatives. Employees who give back to the community are more engaged in their workplace environments. As part of the AFS corporate culture initiatives, a Community Outreach program has been developed to foster volunteerism and community involvement. The groups meet to plan projects that impact their communities. Many at AFS are eager to give back to their community and prefer to do so with coworkers.

Through the guidance of area partners such as The United Way, AFS plans quarterly events for non-profits in the area with the greatest need. Projects year to date include preparing packages for an after-school children’s enrichment program. Over 20 employees, hand decorated bags that contained healthy snacks and encouraging inspirational messages. Most recently, the Shreveport office participated the United Way’s Day of Caring. These employees spent the day planting gardens and beautifying the landscape of another local after-school program for children. The enthusiasm from the group helped AFS win the 2017 Day of Caring Spirit Award.

Employees at AFS agree that a corporate culture that values service is a huge job perk and feel confident knowing the company is committed to the community. Additional projects are being planned and interest in the Community Outreach program continues to grow.
