Brian J. Barker
Chairman of the Board
Brian founded AFS in Shreveport, LA on February 2, 1982 and under his direction and vision, AFS has grown to more than 250 employees in 12 states and assembling a list of over 2500 clients during that time span. Over the years, AFS has acquired many competitors establishing footprints in the major metropolitan areas across the US. In 2012, Brian became a Limited Partner in the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons franchise. Currently residing in Park City, UT, he and his wife Kathi support several local community efforts including Christian based middle and high school athletics and inner-city sports camps for youth. They enjoy traveling, camping, the mountains and all the activities that come with the area such as skiing and hiking. Most of all, they enjoy spending time with their two grandkids, Helen and Jay.
Vice President of Mergers and Acquisitions
Scott joined AFS after spending 28 years in the business world working for both McKesson and APS as the Director of Plant Operations and Baker Mfg., Inc. as the Director of Purchasing and Inventory Control. He has now been with AFS for over 13 years and plays an important role as Vice President of Mergers and Acquisitions. In this position, Scott researches markets for strategic opportunities to expand and develops business valuations with ROI expectations. Scott graduated from Louisiana College with a degree in Business Management. He currently resides in the Shreveport area and has two children, Jake and Ashley, and four grandchildren, Caleb, Logan, Abigail and David. Scott likes to spend his off-hours either hunting, fishing, gardening or taking photos.
Vice President of Operations
Randy started with AFS after 30 years of service with General Motors, where he held many positions in both production and personnel. As our current VP of Operations, he is involved in day to day problem solving while overseeing Freight Audit & Payment, client services and our new LEAN and quality initiatives. When it comes to his work, Randy is passionate about doing it right the first time, all the time. Randy earned his degree in Business Administration from Louisiana Tech. While his second career at AFS keeps him very engaged in providing superior customer care, he enjoys the great outdoors, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family, including a growing population of grandchildren.
Vice President of Revenue Management
Mingshu has over 18 years of experience in Revenue Management and Pricing Analytics in both the transportation and payment processing industries. Most of Mingshu’s professional experience comes from 16 years at FedEx, where she led numerous strategic initiatives in parcel pricing and First Data Corp where she played a key role in leading the pricing analytics and restructuring of the company. Mingshu holds a B.A. in International Economics from Nankai University, China and M.A. degrees in Economics from the Ohio State University and the University of Toledo. Currently working in our Atlanta office, she is a proven leader, detailed problem solver and an excellent communicator with over 11 years of professional management experience. During her spare time, Mingshu enjoys spending time with her family as well as running, hiking and yoga.
Vice President of Logistics Services
As Vice President of Logistics, Mark oversees Parcel, LTL, Truckload, and International Services, in addition to our suite of Managed Transportation Services. Mark has 20 years of sales, product and operations experience in transportation and logistics, with a diverse background across private industry, transportation providers and 3PLs. He is passionate in taking an outside-of-the-box and consultative approach to identify and optimize processes and maximizing financial impacts without disruption to the client’s supply chain. Mark holds a BS degree in Marketing and Finance from West Virginia University. He is also an avid motorcyclist during the few times his two kids aren’t busy raising him.
Chief Financial Officer
Prior to AFS, Ben was CFO and part owner of Airflo Cooling Technologies. Ben also held the position of CFO at Trend Corporation and the Norris Division of Dover Corporation, a manufacturer of oilfield production equipment.
Ben is a leader in the implementation of new age technologies such as banking services, P-Card Programs and informal activity based costing systems. Ben is a non-traditional accountant who focuses on supporting the organization as a high value added function for the company stakeholders.
As part of the leadership team, Ben plays an integral role in the development and execution of a business strategy for strong growth revenue, earnings and profit margins. Under his leadership the finance team has focused on reducing non-value added processes while supporting the business strategy. In his off-hours, Ben is an avid sailor and gardener. He and his wife of 45 years live in the Tulsa area and have 3 children and 5 grandchildren.
Vice President of Sales
Dean joined AFS in 2008 as a Regional Sales Manager before moving into the position VP of Alliance Partnerships and most recently VP of Sales. He graduated from The University of Texas at Arlington with his Bachelors of Business Administration, Marketing and Finance. After graduating, Dean transitioned into the world of transportation and logistics starting with UPS Parcel in 1989. After spending 4 years in the parcel business, he transitioned to Roadway Express working in both operations and sales. In 1994, he took a management role with Nationsway Transport until 1999 when he then returned back to Roadway/YRC as a Corporate Account Executive and District Sales Manager. Dean currently resides in the Dallas/Fort Worth area with his wife and five children. In his spare time he enjoys sports, being active in the local high school booster club and spending time with family.
